Eight Cocktails to Show Mom Your Love!

Happy Mother’s Day to moms everywhere! Due to circumstances, we assume most of you are spending Mother’s Day at home instead of taking mom out to a well deserved brunch or dinner. Here are 8 easy The Blind Pig cocktails that you can make for mom to show your appreciation!

Cucumber Gin Spritz

The easy gin spritz is a great light cocktail for afternoon sipping. The cucumber gives it a fresh and light taste.

Orange You Glad It’s Carpano?

Made with Carpano Antica and flavored sparkling water, this cocktail is light with a low alcohol content.  It is  a perfect pairing for mom at brunch or a noontime meal.

Saturday in the Park

Just as its name suggests, it is a great cocktail for the middle of the afternoon.  A little rye whiskey, ginger ale and few other ingredients make this cocktail pair nicely with a light dessert.

Savannah Special

We discovered this yummy cocktail last spring for our daughter’s graduation celebration.  Fresh blackberries, whiskey and sparkling wine are the main ingredients. This one goes great with a slice of cake!

Sparkling Lemonade

Mix up some of this lemonade made with elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and prosecco, and enjoy a visit on the front porch with mom.

Tickle Me Pink

Tickle Me Pink Rose’ Sangria

Not only is the drink knock out pretty, it will make any mom feel appreciated and loved.  The rose’ sangria is a yummy summer cocktail.

Orange Basil Spritzer

This non-alcoholic drink made with an orange juice base is perfect for a Mother’s Day breakfast or brunch!

Blackberry Kiwi Mocktail

Serve mom  lunch or a special dessert with this berry mocktail in tow.

Whether you are making these drinks for mom, or you are a mom fixing one of these for yourself, cheers to all of the great mothers out there.  We love you. We honor you, and we know that we would be a huge mess without you!

Tickle Me Pink

Happy Mother’s Day a few days early to all of our favorite moms.  We are raising our glass to moms everywhere with this week’s drink — Tickle Me Pink.  This rose’ sangria will be a fan favorite when you serve it from your favorite patio to celebrate the moms in your life.  It fits The Blind Pig criteria because it is easy, tasty and fresh!

To make this rose’ sangria, you will need a pint of fresh strawberries, 4 fresh limes, 1 bottle of Rose’ wine, 1/2 cup of Zaya Rum, and 4 cups of Diet Sprite.  Most sangria’s call for a white rum, but we like to use a dark rum like Zaya because it has a richer flavor that compliments the fruit and the wine nicely.

Start by thinly slicing the strawberries and limes.  Place half of the strawberries and limes in a tall pitcher.  Save the other half in a tightly sealed container for garnish.

Pour the rose’ wine and the Zaya Rum into the pitcher.  Cover the pitcher and place in the refrigerator for 4-24 hours.  We made ours the night before for a get-together we were having the following day.

Prior to serving, add 4 cups of Diet Sprite, ice and stir.  We prefer Diet Sprite instead of regular.  Many sangrias can be overly sweet which overpowers the flavors in the drink. The Diet Sprite achieves the bubbly essence of the sangria without the extra sugar and sweetness.

As you serve your guests place a few slices of strawberries and limes in each glass.  It’s a delicious, easy and fun refreshing summer sipper.

Mother’s Day Brunch: Grapefruit Spritz

mother's day brunch3Hi friends!  It seems like we were just with you since we wrote the April Bonus post just a few short days ago.  What did you think about the Templeton Whiskey Cake?

Mother’s Day is just a couple of weeks away which got us thinking about the perfect Mother’s Day Brunch.  Mimosas came to mind.  Don’t get us wrong, Rhonda loves a good mimosa, but they seem a little ordinary.  We are excited to share a new beverage recipe with you this week. Rhonda is kind of on a spritz kick right now. She had a delicious spritz in England when she went to visit Blind Piglet #1.  Then she came home and made The Cucumber Gin Spritz.  We had some of Seagram’s new Grapefruit Vodka in the house.  We were playing around with different recipes we could try with this citrusy liquor, and the Grapefruit Spritz was born.

Now that you know the backstory, let’s get to the details.  We hear you already.  Not a grapefruit fan?  Is it the crazy cousin in the beloved citrus family?  No worries.  We aren’t huge grapefruit people either.  However, Seagram’s Grapefruit Vodka has just enough citrus taste to give this drink a light citrus flavor without overpowering the drink.  We pinky promise.

This beverage hits the mark for easy, tasty and fresh.  The recipe is soooo easy that you will feel guilty when your mother brags on what a great job you did serving her Mother’s Day brunch. Of course the drink is tasty, we already told you that.  Fresh?  The citrus punch of the grapefruit coupled with an easy garnish of fresh grapefruit has fresh written all over it!

We (Rhonda) served the Mother’s Day Brunch with a Zucchini Onion Frittata recipe she clipped from Southern Living years ago. (It’s a winner.) Frittata only sounds complicated.  Don’t forget that Kerrygold French Toast  or Kerrygold Cinnamon Rolls are also easy, tasty, fresh brunch recipes that will please and impress mothers from near and far.

Now your special brunch for the mothers in your life is covered. You are ready to impress and tell your mother/wife/Godmother how much she means to you.
